Podcaster Joe Rogan has said that people who suffered under stringent Covid policies should vote Republican in the midterm elections. The podcast host warned that people who were forced to close their businesses and “lost everything that they worked for decades to build” will be “angry” because they have received no compensation. Asked what they should do, Rogan responded: “Vote Republican. That’s what a lot of them are going to do anyway — more than a million people transferred over to the Republican party in 2021 alone.” The host went on to praise Republican Governor Ron De Santis for keeping Florida open, saying that his Covid policies were “pretty reasonable”.

It is rare for Rogan, who has in the past expressed support for Bernie Sanders and said that he has been “a liberal for my whole life”, to explicitly endorse a political party, let alone the Republicans. As recently as July this year, the comedian said that he was “so far away from being a Republican” because of the Party’s stance on gay marriage and abortion. These issues have contributed to a slide in the GOP’s lead in the polls, which has been steadily falling since July. While the party is still in a position to gain enough House seats for a majority, abortion rights, gas prices and Donald Trump have overtaken Covid as key issues going into November.
Rogan was joined on the podcast by NFL player Aaron Rodgers, who is himself unvaccinated against Covid. The four-time MVP player told the podcast host that unvaccinated players during the last two seasons were regularly “shamed”, but he refused to get jab because he was allergic to an ingredient in the MRNA vaccines and feared an adverse reaction in the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The pair lamented the current state of politics, agreeing that both parties were unappealing to voters.

This is 100% typical for Liberals, worried about the deck chairs on the Titanic. rather than the Icebergs.
As the Left is destroying the world as we know it their defense is that: ‘abortion, trans rights, disinformation, equity, and White Privilege’ are the pressing problems supreme over all else –
Swift perfectly captured two left factions in his Big End/Little End Wars, and how their leadership governs.
”In Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels (1726) the Big-Endians are a group of people in Lilliput who believe that boiled eggs should be broken at the big end rather than at the little end, as commanded by the Emperor of Lilliput. As a result of this disagreement Lilliput and the neighbouring land of Blefuscu have ‘been engaged in a most obstinate war for six and thirty moons past’…. …”
Rogan said vote independent when he spoke with Alex Berenson. He also said he wasn’t political. Which isn’t true, obviously. Who cares what he says however, as long as he keeps having these great guests on and has the conversations that legacy media are not brave enough to have.
Rogan is a great interviewer but not a politics natural. There is only one party in my nation. Bipartisan consensus on prosecuting whistleblowers, endless war, defense budget, corporate bailouts or anything else they ask for. Wall Street writes the laws and runs our gov.
All bow before the Blob and despair!
Too perfect.
We have to rescue the word “liberal”. It derives from liberty, freedom. You cannot be a Bernie Sanders supporter, amusing and eccentric as he is, and be a liberal. Mr Sanders is a liberal on a few things – termination rights – but very controlling on others – such as letting the people retain the money that they have earned or deciding what to spend it on. Mr Trump is more liberal than Mr Sanders, but he is not much of a liberal either.
If Rogon was liberal before, then if he had put any thought into that definition he would not be a Sanders supporter, or indeed a Trump supporter. If he is becoming a liberal now he really needs to clarify what it is he thinks liberalism is and what liberal policies might be in his brave new world.
I strongly hope Ron DeSantis becomes the Republican nominee, first to put Trump behind us, but secondly, to have a fight between a competent conservative who uses facts to make values-based decisions, vs. a liberal party which pretends that every opinion, decision or debate has really already been decided, and that it’s merely a matter of dragging the benighted or morally obstinate to the true set of “facts” or “Science.” We see this throughout the trans debate.
Another example was what to do based on the known facts of Covid as a governor. DeSantis and others didn’t have the luxury of focusing purely on reducing the number of infections at all costs. He had to consider the full human costs of keeping the economy and schools locked down, when to reopen, etc. And in my opinion, he made the right values-based risk/reward decision based “on science,” not “The Science.” (Whereas my own cowardly governor, Gavin Newsom, kept children out of school far past any reasonable interpretation of science or consideration of risk to children.
I’ve got plenty of problems with DeSantis, but considering any Democrat currently being spoken about as a 2024 presidential contender, I would vote for DeSantis in a heartbeat.
Viewing that clip, I took that comment, as described in the title of this piece, as tongue in cheek – purely by the expression on his face.
I did not take it as tongue in cheek, but as a sheepish admitting he has been wrong all this time, by his expression and voice.
Agree. I think the way Rogan went on to justify his comment by discussing DeSantis’ Covid policies shows that it wasn’t an off-the-cuff remark.
