Over the past thirty years or so, the private sector has been subjected to the full force of globalization with its attendant job losses and insecurity. Federal government employees have, by contrast, been shielded from global competitive pressures. It’s about time public sector employees joined the rest of the workforce instead of being provided a sheltered cove in which to indulge their ideological whims.
