I just want to say I love Undercurrents as a Counterpoints superfan, I get frustrated that I miss you on special event broadcasts cuz I can watch both live. But that is my problem, I am really grateful for the show you are building here. It means everything to me to have a core set of journalists whose reporting and opinions I trust. When everyone around me is complaining about fake new and they can’t trust anyone, I beg to differ and bring up you and others I trust. It was I good day when you started guesting(is that a word) and co-hosting with Ryan on the Hill. This episode with Marianne was fire- I Love her and wish that her voice would be featured more often. But this comment is really just to say thank you and it sounds weird to say because I am not your mother, but I am really proud of the way you are using your voice and the work you are doing.
I’ll second that. I increasingly rely on Unherd (and that includes Undercurrents) not just as a source of commentary but also for news. There simply aren’t enough trustworthy outlets, even on the conservative side of the spectrum (yes, I’m looking at you, Fox). So far Undercurrents has only a small follower base, but I believe that’s because it’s not a click-bait-y outlet. As more people like me are starved for serious, balanced journalism, Undercurrents’ reputation will grow (I’m also happy to recommend it).
Also seconded. This is great journalism, and even though i wouldn’t necessarily agree with some of the views around “drilling” and deportation of illegals that were put forward, the way in which the debate was conducted was very much the way i’d want to see our democracies debating these issues. It ill-behoves the Democrats to be sidelining people like this. If that continues – and having already been ‘found out’ by the US public in the most raw and visible way possible – then they’re condemning not just themselves but the principles of democratic government, based around fair debate, to a dustbin. Here in the UK, we still have the likes of Champagne Socialist sneering away, completely oblivious to the fact that he’s not just embarrassing himself but destroying any vestige of the true social realm in which debate can take place. If he’s anything like representative of the left-leaning regime currently in the ascendency, he and they too will be found out, and i believe that’s happening already.
