It’s been a big year for UnHerd TV. Since the start of 2023, we’ve produced over seventy interviews and investigations. Freddie and Flo have spent the year talking to an assortment of scientists, philosophers, politicians and artists from around the world, and our videos have been watched 10 million times this year.
Meanwhile, the UnHerd Club has hosted over forty sell-out live events since January. This year has seen figures as diverse as Lord Sumption, Nick Cave, John Gray and Ayaan Hirsi Ali taking centre stage on the club sofa.

Very nice, but no mention of (by far) the most important issue that impinged onto the public’s consciousness through 2023 – the rise of AI and the Large Language Models. Ultimately, the geopolitics, and the economics, and the migration flows, and all the culture wars stuff, is going to matter little – because it will all be completely swamped by the ever accelerating incoming advances in machine intelligence, as the rising global panic through the latter two-thirds of 2024 is painfully going to demonstrate. Perhaps including the interview with Nick Bostrom might have been an idea, you know, a sop to us doomers.
AI was the subject of this year’s Royal Institution Christmas Lectures:

Although aimed primarily at a young audience, it’s always worth a watch from an adult perspective because much can be gleaned that isn’t necessarily in the public domain, and it doesn’t pull any punches, especially in part 3. The only part that failed was its sketchy (if you’ll excuse the pun) treatment of AI art, but that can be excused as it was compiled and presented by scientists.
I doubt that Unherd will be remiss in lacking content along the lines you suggest in 2024.
