“For the EU, it’s a reminder that the governments of member states are bound to act in the interests of their own voters.”
Germany learnt nothing in their pathological quest for domination. Federalization of EU is their newest Drang Nach Osten strategy. The country that is freelaoding on defense for years wants to abolish veto in the decisions related to foreign policy and defense startegy of the EU countries, in effect weakening NATO. Poland would have to go insane, or be governed by traitors, to surrender the country sovereignty to Germany, which is using EU a proxy.

Unfortunately your country’s own position is hypocritical and weak. Leave the EU! Stop taking the subsidies from an organisation you detest.

Seeing very little European solidarity here. I don’t know that the EU has clue about promoting improvements in the lives of its citizenry. They seem far more interested in sucking up to the Americans and giving the finger to the Russians. Their idiocy has destroyed their cheap energy supplies, an essential service handed over to American thieves.
National Governments are elected by their citizens to promote and protect their interests and this should always come first.
The actions of the EU is weakening democracy all through Europe and they should either pull their heads in or be put on a very tight leash. As servants, the EU has got way ahead of itself and thinks it owns the show. They haven’t learned a single thing from the Greek debacle.

“American thieves”. How ludicrous. This is the usual rather incoherent right wing rant based on a few scraps of good argument. The EU are often at loggerheads with the Americans, especially over trade issues, but they know the Americans provide most of NATO’s defence. And then of course “democracy” as defined as rule by people like me!

The EU has many faults, as does the West in general, but the idea that voters as a block have a particularly coherent and joined up set of priorities is a stretch.
