The continued escalation of military force by the West in Ukraine will of course lead to matching escalation by Russia. This naturally will lead to the use of tactical nuclear weapons. After that, who knows. I wish someone would wake up Mr Biden, and tell him this.

It would take more than artillery fire to damage the reactors, the infrastructure is extremely well reinforced. Devices placed inside could do it however. Would Putin do that? Hmmm.
Ingenious!
The Ukrainians want to irradiate themselves and their land, for zero military benefit !?!
And, as Rudolf Hess asserted at Nurnberg: “Hitler’s victims killed themselves to make him look bad.”
Both of you are beyond genius!
Martin its a FACT that the Ukrainians were shelling the power plant, you may not like this but its true, the Ukrainians are also using depleted Uranium shells or they plan to use them soon, thats also a very bad idea

I guess if NATO hadn’t provoked Russia, and diplomacy had been better, and Russia hadn’t invaded, and Ukraine hadn’t resisted, and one side hadn’t seized the power station, and the other side hadn’t………

I suspect this may be Putin’s thinking. And it’s very typical of Russians of his class and time.
“If I can’t have Ukraine, Ukraine can’t have it either.”
Any illiterate Byednyak of the last century would have thought the same.Same for his supporters today.
But Putin won’t, because China won’t permit it. It would end all support.
Xi wants a weak and compliant Central Asia, centred on Beijing.
So if the Russian Prince angers his Khan, that’s the end of the prince.
Always the story of Russia when it becomes a vassal of more powerful states.

Given how detached Putin is from reality, this may be his real end game.
He may hope that a nuclear event will force the world to just cave in and accept everything he wants.
Will be interesting, though, whether the Russian military actually carries out such and order, vice simply using nuclear gaslighting.
Might see a new leader in the Kremlin soon…
That’s my worry. I wouldn’t put it past him and he wouldn’t blink before issuing such a directive. The consequences for Russia of such a development would hopefully be catastrophic, I’m just not sure in what way.
“Catastrophic” in Russian terms it might be, but they’ve had practice in this. Look at how long it took for the Chernobyl story to reach the West. Will the story of state (KGB) interference ever become knowledge to the Russian general population, given the total control of the media? It’s easy to hide things in such a vast country, and the well-practiced routine of shipping whole populations to where they are isolated reduces information leaks. Would anyone within the risk zone even have heard that this plant is in trouble, yet? Whatever happens, Putin can ride it out by simply lying, and he knows it.

Absolutely no reason why tactical nuclear weapons would be used. Fantasy.
Ooh, Putin’s threats are so scary!

Certainly wouldn’t be the first nuclear disaster in Ukraine caused by the Russians
Its not Putin or the Russians who were shelling the power plant, its the Ukrainians who you should worry about

No, not really. You sound like a Putin apologist. Is that the case?

No. You cannot ride it out by lying indefinitely. He might think he can. But reality is something quite different.
