I just find it soooo ironic that a nationalist party that doesn’t even try to hide its anti-English bigotry is looked by the left as more liberal than the conservatives. So their appeal to the fascist Neanderthals of Scotland (who as an expat I understand very well) is unsurprising.
The lover of schadenfreude in me wants to see them go independent just to watch them suffer after losing the English support that they rely on so hugely. And in practical terms, England doesn’t really need Scotland any more.

Of course, the SNP is NOT a separatist party; it’s the Labour Party in Scotland under a new label. It’s interested in unisex toilets and siccing the legal system on opponents. Independence would be a distraction.

Welsh Labour announced in November 2020, just before the Senedd elections, that it would support independence. Then came the EU vaccine fiasco and this independence idea did not make it to the manifesto. Labour is just waiting for the right occasion.

Like when it’s actually a realistic proposition?

Labour espoused devolution to outflank the nationalists and use Labour dominance in
Scotland and Wales to secure and hold power in the UK. That went well, didn’t it?
