As soon as it gets to a general election no-one votes Lib Dem, and they won’t vote Green now that environmental policy is correctly seen as responsible for the huge rise in the cost of living.

Local elections and a General Election are two wholly different animals – except to the media who need to get a story from somewhere. For many years the Liberals and then Lib Dems had enormous numbers of local council seats in the South west but never made headway in a GE.
