Like most conflicts in this region it’s probably not as simple as Nancy Pelosi would have you believe. The fact that there are half a dozen major powers involved suggests something more is going on here than meets the eye, or that even this reporter is able to shed light on.
Russia/Ukraine shows us that the “good guys/bad guys” narrative so beloved of the MSM is simply propaganda.
Or for Christianity? This is the oldest Christian community in the World, an nought is said by Archbishop of Canterbury, The UK govt or even the King in his first speech.
No mention either that Azebaijan is being armed and supported by Turkey, a NATO member.

I’m happy to admit that I had no idea that there was a modern equivalent of Cold War West Berlin in Azerbaijan, so this is a very interesting article.
The hypothesis offered in the article that these “environmental” protestors are nothing more than cynically deployed pawns in a power game having nothing whatsoever to do with the environment is very obviously correct.
What could we in the West learn from this, I wonder out loud and knowing the answer already?

They may be seen as an unsavoury regime, but writing as a pragmatist, Azerbaijan provides potentially very helpful counters that could help the West – local opposition to distract Iran from its global war; and opposition to Russian imperialism via Armenia.
Plus, maybe we could encourage our own environmental protesters to decamp there?
Had to laugh at this quote “Indeed, the action would go down in history as the most disruptive environmental protest ever, effectively isolating tens of thousands of people.”
Really? More disruptive to tens of millions around London in the last couple of months by the various eco protesters?

At least there is not shooting.
From the link
”He stressed that it is inadmissible to incite identity-based hatred carried out at the highest political level in Azerbaijan”
This was at the heart of the Russian reason (excuse) for the Ukrainian invasion – the problems in the Eastern areas with ethnic oppression.
Is Biden going to give $Billions in aid and weapons to the Armenians wile Europe buys $Billions of Azeri oil to fund each side in a war like in the Russia – Ukraine war? and see if he can get the ball rolling there too?
Neither the Americans nor UK/EU will help Armenia, simply because they are Christian.

Or perhaps because Armenia already has a (rather useless) defensive aliance with Russia
