News Editor

Although we are most famous for our comment and analysis, some of UnHerd’s most popular stories are news stories. From interviews with high-profile people saying interesting things, through to picking out overlooked details and covering stories which other outlets fail to give space to, the UnHerd newsroom is unlike any other.

The News Editor will be a key part of the team finding, and covering, these stories. If you have a hunger for breaking news and a keen understanding of what would appeal to UnHerd readership, then this role may be for you. Whether it’s breaking down datasets, reading between the headlines, or keeping track of what’s happening on the overlooked fringes, the news editor will keep a fast pace to track and get ahead of UnHerd news stories each day. There will also be opportunities to write.

The ideal candidate will have

• Experience of editing and/or writing in a newspaper, magazine or leading online publication.
• A strong news sensibility.
• A flair for writing, headlines and presentation.
• A hunger to move and jump on stories quickly.
• An investigative streak, keen to surface new information and find the hidden story.
• An understanding of what makes UnHerd unique
