Amid reports that some prestigious Ivy League universities in the US are no longer taking stances on hot-button issues, corporate America is still undecided on the matter. This will not be helped by recent polling from Gallup and Bentley University showing that a significant portion (38%) of Americans think businesses should take a public position on current events.
While this is down from 48% in 2022, it is still high enough for companies to feel as if they are pleasing a significant number of customers when they get political. The survey also found that over half of Americans are interested in businesses taking a stance on climate change (54%), mental health (53%) and diversity, equity and inclusion (53%). Political polarisation doesn’t seem to be going away…
