On the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, the Muslim media website 5Pillars has marked the day with a very odd post: “Today is the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America. The controversial events of that day are still a source of huge dispute among Muslims. Who do you think was responsible for 9/11 and what were the agendas of those who perpetrated and exploited it?”

This went out to 168,000 followers. The account’s banner reads “Independent. Grassroots. Regulated.” In May, it was censured by the Independent Monitor for the Press (Impress) for a podcast “promoting ‘hatred and abuse’ of Jews and LGBT people”. So that’s what it means by “regulated”…
