When we’re all done reading he tells us: – this article is almost 7 months old! But it explains why this line of his puzzled me: “Now [Russia] hopes to ‘liberate’ the Donbas by holding a bogus referendum.” That’s very old news indeed. Even so, a journalist has to make a living, and his article impressed me. Above all its confirmation of the importance of testosterone and ‘toxic masculinity’, two key factors in war that the coddled, pampered West is trying so hard to denigrate and deny.

its neocom propaganda designed to support the war on Russia

Ursula Von Der Leyen let it slip that the Ukraine has suffered over 100K of casualities so far, and that number is growing rapidly in places like Bakhmut. The neocons have no problem fighting to the last Ukrainian in the hopes of weakening Russia

The longer it continues the worse it will get for the Ukraine

Delusional nonsense. Russia is weakening and destroying itself. They lost the day then invaded Ukraine. Purely a question now of when they admit it. It doesn’t actually need any help from us – it was already broken.
I very much doubt that Ursula von der Leyen is on the inside track for any factual statistics of what’s happening in Ukraine.

“The war on Russia”? Seriously? Who started the engine on the first tank? Who fired the first shot? Who sent in the first white phosphorus?
Once someone reaches for the word “neocon” in the first sentence it’s clear they gave up thinking sometime in the nineties. Further, to state that it is “neocons” who are fighting to the last Ukrainian deliberately ignores the obvious fact that the Ukrainians themselves are determined to fight to the last Ukrainian: they did not provoke this war, they are the ones begging for the means to continue to defend themselves, and the West is the one quibbling and drip-feeding them the means to prosecute the Ukrainian defence.

“Look, we are standing with our blood for Western values”. The White Army fights the Reds as they did in the 1920’s. Perhaps the West will not abandon them as they did Wragel’s army in the past. Lloyd-George from England let them down as the world was being remapped by the Reds and we have lived with the result 100 years later.
An ugly brutal war fought by good men on both sides, but one side fights for a principle, the other because they are forced to. Hopefully the principle holds.

How do you know that there are “good men on both sides” ? Far more likely that there are both good and bad men on both sides. But we should be in no doubt which side is right in this conflict. Nor that it is necessary for any better future for the Russian themselves that they are decisively defeated and rid themselves of their delusions about their rights to bully and intimidate their neighbours.

To be fair I think he meant that (as you say) there are both good and bad men on both sides; he was merely acknowledging that this is not a war between only “good” men on one side and only “bad” men on the other.
However, this is definitely a war between a good side and a bad side.

The article may be a few months old, but the morale and motivation that hits you full force as you read it is evidently just as strong now as it was then. Napoleon famously said ‘ In war morale is to physical as three is to one’.
And added to this the Ukrainians show initiative and have an NCO cadre that doesn’t need to wait for orders unlike their counterparts who are still fighting like it’s WW2.
Next phase? Cut off Crimea. Only two major routes in. The road bridge is badly damaged and with their Himars the Ukrainians will make other death alley for the Russians. But the Ukrainians have shown great strategic Generalship too and won’t rush. Next summer Crimea is taken back.
