On the Guardian which professes to be much concerned with inequality the whole tenor and the comments BTL are to keep the schools closed indefinitely. That paper is the mouthpiece of the teaching unions and i assume this is their policy. If you point out that the poorest and most deprived children are the most affected you are either insulted or ignored. Strange that.

Not quite sure what he’s trying to say apart from the fact that society is unequal.
Groups disproportionately affected are the elderly and people with co morbidities. Amongst the latter over represented are the obese and diabetics – ie diet related; they eat too much.
I thought the whole point of the gig economy was that the worker chooses which jobs to take – Uber style . Polls amongst them consistently show high levels of satisfaction with the set up. Why else would they be doing it on a full employment economy ( pre March anyway). The only ones against tend to be lefties and self interested unions. These are overwhelmingly public sector anyway these days.
I’m surprised that the poorest 20% don’t have time to read to their kids since largely they don’t work. As for resources- charity shops often give children’s books away .

First of all the Labour Party represent a metropolitan middle class who see socialism as a way to protect the “little people”. They believe supporting Labour displays their progressive credentials. When it comes to tax these Labour voters do think rich people should pay more tax. The problem is their definition of rich, because what I see is a definition that could be best summed up as “people who earn more than me”. The majority don’t think they are rich. They can’t comprehend that the average income in the UK is c£30k and if you earn over £80K you are in the top 5% of earners.

Any major tax rises are going to fall on this labour supporting middle class and they will drop their “progressive values” faster than the drop in their disposable income!

Well, what if the whole thing is essentially a scam? As in – Covid 19 is an ordinary flu, not an actual pandemic. The WHO has been co-opted by certain players with Bill Gates as frontman. I mean, Covid hasn’t killed as many people this year as Influenza A. And both should be equally affected by the lockdown.

Correct, in fact it is disproportionately slaughtering the old, and to use the vernacular the ‘knackered’.
Lord Jonathan Sumption KS, in his two BBC interviews, is the best source on this factor, and the hysterical response to it.
