In this blog, Giles Fraser unfairly characterizes all futurists as “nerdy trend predictors and philosophers of the future.” In fact, The Association of Professional Futurists has very high standards for membership, including the fact that to qualify, we must be using accepted futures’ methods and processes or conducting hard research or writing books and speaking about the future, as we have “forecast” it. We do not predict the future; we forecast it—using research tools and careful methods.
