Advance UK, the Right-wing movement launched by former Reform UK deputy leader Ben Habib last year, is to de-register as a political party. In a statement to members, Habib, who quit Reform after a feud with its leader Nigel Farage, said the decision to fold Advance UK arose from a need to “clarify the political landscape” on the Right.
The party was originally founded as an alternative to Reform, pledging to promote “the nation’s Christian constitution, roots, traditions, culture, and values”, as Habib criticized Farage for “slinking off to the Left”. It quickly drew support from prominent Right-wing figures including Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson, who joined as a member after accusing Farage of promoting “establishment lies”.
Yet according to Habib, the launch of other Right wing parties, such as Rupert Lowe’s Restore Britain, has “created a crowded field” which made Advance UK’s “task of saving the country even more difficult”. In his statement, Habib wrote that “several parties competing for the same patriotic vote cannot serve Britain,” while reaffirming his belief that Reform “was not the party to save the country, and it still is not”.
Advance UK, which has over 30,000 members and holds four council seats, has struggled to gain traction since the establishment of Restore Britain. Lowe had previously set it up as a pressure group last year, before it became a political party in February, pledging to go further than Farage on mass deportations. In Great Yarmouth, where Lowe sits as MP, a local Restore affiliate party labelled Great Yarmouth First (GYF) won seven seats in the May local elections. Restore now has 21 council seats, and is currently polling in an unexpected third place in the upcoming Makerfield by-election.
The move to fold Advance UK will boost Lowe’s party and put further pressure on Farage, who has previously been criticized on the Right for bringing former Tory MPs such as Robert Jenrick and Nadhim Zahawi into Reform. Musk, who formerly supported Farage, has also since labeled the Reform leader as “weak sauce who will do nothing”, and has since thrown his support behind Advance UK and then Lowe’s party, writing on X last month that “only Restore can save Britain.”
Lowe has welcomed the move to fold Advance UK, stating on X that Habib and Advance UK party members are “patriots who want the best for Britain”, adding: “they are welcome in our Restore Britain family.”
