Enjoyed this but I take issue with the conclusion.
There is no need for private capital at all, it certainly isn’t the cheapest as no one can raise money in the UK cheaper than the government.
Also look at the PFI projects under Brown, the contracts were hideously complicated, not that the lawyers complained, and the companies who signed the contracts knew how to game the system charging, for example. ridiculous sums to change a light bulb, not that the civil servants complained it wasn’t ther money and no one was going to hold then responsible.
And the politicians who signed them are long gone ,likely knighted or in the House of Lords.

An excellent video, well worth the watch.
However, Freddy and Carolyn remain too cautious or sanguine about the economic devasation that net zero is bringing to Britain.
Expensive energy, leads to the death of prosperity and Britain has the world’s most expensive energy. It’s long past time to reverse course and to recognise that our sacrifices will make no measurable difference to climate change, none.

Energy is everything. Access to energy in the UK is the very essence of our existence. Making it affordable and predictable is one thing a Government should consistently aim for.
