As G-d moves in mysterious ways, we have no way of knowing why he chose to save President Trump but not Corey Comperatore.
Great episode Emily!

I clearly remember Alex O’Connor’s reaction to the first assassination attempt on Donald Trump, where he referenced the 1981 assassination attempt on the late John Paul II. The papal assassination attempt took place on 13 May that year and the Pope connected his survival with the anniversary of the reported apparition of Our Lady in Fatima (northern Portugal) in 1917. Alex reasonably asked if Our Lady guided the bullet as John Paul II said, why she could not have prevented the shooting which put more lives at risk than just his. The tragic death of Corey Comperatore in Butler was but another illustration of this.
I can draw the two figures together in another way which has some relevance to the question about the favourite bible verse. When interviewed on EWTN in 2016, Donald Trump was asked to name his favourite saint (which is not a question I would put to someone not of a Catholic or Orthodox background) and his ready answer was John Paul II. I suspect he was prepared beforehand.
