Weekly podcast: The seven ills of capitalism

February 1, 2018

Description

This week on UnHerd we have been exploring the seven ills of capitalism. The series has included pieces by Liam Halligan on loose monetary policy and our editor, Tim Montgomerie, on the capitalist system’s indifference to the role of families and communities in generating the social capital upon which markets depend upon for their integrity and wider success. It will also feature contributions from James Kirkup, Charlie Pickles and Ann Pettifor, economist and advisor to the Labour leadership.

In the podcast, Ann Pettifor joins Ayesha Hazarika and Peter Franklin to discuss the theme further, and suggest how those ills might be cured. There was a surprising and encouraging amount of agreement on how to reverse the cronyisation of capitalism from Ann on the traditional left and Peter from a much more conservative starting point.
