Description

This morning, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif won an Olympic boxing match by default after Italy’s Angela Carini abandoned the bout in protest. Khelif, previously banned from the World Championships, has XY chromosomes. Sports scientist Tommy Lundberg joined UnHerd in the aftermath of the fight to discuss how the complex case could change Olympic history.

Italy’s Angela Carini abandoned the bout in protest
.
Please, correct your mistake. She was heavily beaten by this sadistic male, but now it’s legal and fair in our New Brave World.
.
There is nothing complex here, sorry.

The interviewer was really lousy. Not a good journalist at all. She seemed bent on diluting the very reasonable and reliable information offered by Lundberg by speaking of “complexity” etc.and obfuscating the issue instead of clarifying it.
It’s very simple, lady: Khelif is a male and should not have been allowed to compete with a woman. What happened to Angela Carini is utterly UNFAIR. Shame on you, shame on the bully male Khelif, shame on the IOC and shame on Unherd for offering us this utterly mediocre piece of journalism.

I know that there are extremely rare cases of genetic or developmental sexual abnormalities (Joan of Arc is an example), but they can’t be used in order to justify a dirty pervert and a vile IOC. Any abnormality should be interpreted in favor of the more vulnerable side, i.e. biologically normal women.
It’s so simple, I don’t understand what we have to discuss here.

According to some opinions, she had Morris syndrome.
One of the prosecution’s arguments was that she did not menstruate.

I disagree. Both interviewer and interviewee were very measured, and this is far more helpful in the debate than a rant would be.

Tommy Lundberg was right when he said in this interview that this complex issue never gets treated on social media with the seriousness it deserves. It’s not Flo Read, Imane Khelif, the IOC, or UnHerd that’s shameful, it’s you.

It is complex. If I understand correctly the Algerian and Taiwanese boxers were probably born and grew up never questioning that they were women.

I have nothing against transgenders and XY women to compete: in their own category, not in the one for XX women!

I must be incredibly old as I can remember Dr Edith Summerskill and her attempt to get boxing banned. She won every argument and pointed out all the injuries and number of men who were killed and suffered life-changing events. The feeling was that boxing would quite soon be banned and yet this has never happened and now we have the wonderful progress of womens boxing. Boxing really is extremely dangerous and the list of fighters who have died continues to lengthen did you watch on TV when Michael Watson suffered his brain damage or maybe you watched when Gerald McLennan suffered his.You can not fight if your eye sight is below a certain level because you are more liable to suffer a detached retina and a few years back a British fighter was refused a license but he went to Belgium where he was granted a license and did very well for a while until he suffered a detached retina. All these arguments about inclusion are nonsense. At some stage a woman will die in the ring and when that happens everyone will realise that women should not be boxing at all.

For some reason I missed seeing this interview on this controversial topic until now, and I’m sorry I missed it. The interview is excellent. The interviewer Flo Read asked focused and informed questions. The interviewee Tommy Lundberg gave cogent and informed answers. This kind of interview is what brings me back to UnHerd.
