Emily reacts to breaking news that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Adviser Michael Waltz reached a deal with Ukrainian negotiators on a ceasefire proposal. “The ball is now in their court,” said Rubio of Russia, who will now determine whether the deal is viable.
I certainly don’t believe Trump is a Russian agent, but it’s entirely possible Putin is playing him.
The ceasefire proposal is very interesting, and somewhat encouraging, but let’s see how the Russians react. I don’t think they can be shamed into giving Trump the deal he wants. Only a show of force will move Putin.
This story, like so many others under the Trump administration, is another example of watching sausage being made. I prefer to simply enjoy the sausage with some mustard and a glass of good beer vs. knowing every last ingredient, the percentage of fat vs. lean meat, and the length of time each spends in the grinder before being injected into the casing. I am flabbergasted at the level of transparency we are witnessing with this administration, but it is becoming exhausting to try to keep up with the “news”. What happens today is completely forgotten tomorrow and we become like zombies with the consumption of all this content. My head is spinning. Perhaps I will shut down for 4 years and reap the benefits of lower deficits, the return of sanity and a peaceful world at the end of all this.
