US life expectancy declining – because young men are killing themselves
The New York Times reported yesterday that U.S. life expectancy was down for the second straight year. Why? Overdose deaths from opioids skyrocketed, and the people likeliest to die were men in their 20s through their 50s. And they tend to be less-educated people from areas in decline, as this map shows. One of the richest nations in the world isn’t producing enough hope and opportunity to keep its citizens alive. It’s an abomination and a crisis, and yet Americans hear more about Trump’s tweets about NFL players than they do about this. That’s an abomination too.
